Crossing the Equator

This was a particularly eventful day onboard because we crossed the Equator at about 3 p.m. as we continue to head in a southwesterly direction toward the Marquesas Islands.  Tradition has it that all Pollywogs who have never before crossed the Equator must appear before Aegir, Norse God of the Seas, confess their crimes. brave the fearsome Vikings, kiss the fish and take the plunge to gain passage across the Equator.  Needless to say, we made sure we were not on anyone's radar.  Here are some photos of the crossing ceremony.


    
A brief postscript.  Tonight we hit the other specialty restaurant, Manfredi's.  It did not disappoint.  Had a fascinating conversation with the couple at the next table.  Both naturalized American citizens originally from Ukraine.  Interesting perspectives on Russia, Putin and our politics.
